2002 Membership started with 42, Gained 4, Lost 4, ended with 42.Theme for the Year “Sow the seeds of Love” 
President Barry Wood wanted a special effort this year on behalf of the new Kilbryde Hospice. Our Annual dance was held again in the Crutherland Hotel and the proceeds from raffle and auction were shared between the Hospice and John Harvie Memorial Fund.

Rotarian Past President John Harvie, served our Club & Rotary for 11 years & 10 months from November1981-September 2002 until he died in Rotary service.
Nothing was ever a problem to John and he could be relied upon 100% until he died on  Rotary service November 1981 - September 2002.
Lord Bonomy was given Honorary membership.

The West Highland Way was tackled  by seven brave East Kilbride Rotarians namely Iain  Bonomy,  Ray Porrelli, Douglas Kilpatrick, Barry Wood, Liam Donnelly, George Gunn and Tom Wilson plus others who joined in at various stages to raise cash for the Hospice. In all East Kilbryde Hospice received a cheque for £21,500

President Barry organised 5 other Rotary clubs to involve themselves with us in a “charity “Go Kart” evening, successfully raising £240 for Polio Eradication under the auspices of Rotary Foundation.

President Barry Wood and International Convener John Murphy presented  one of the largest donations ever made to any International Charity by our Rotary Club to “Riders for Health “ representative Andrea Coleman for £13,890.

£1,600 was split equally between East Kilbride Red Cross, Sightsavers, Jaipur Limbs, Children of the Andes, East Kilbride Newstape, Arthritis Care, McMillan Nurses and Water Aid. Our new Honorary Member Lord Bonomy raised £10,000 for British Heart Foundation.  Monies totalling £3500 gathered in memory of the late John Harvie were presented to “East Kilbride Befriending Project” . Cancer Research £4,075, Polio Eradication £1,000.
